Job Summary
EHS- Quality and Hygiene Officer is responsible for ensuring that the hotel operates in compliance with environmental, health, safety, and hygiene regulations. The role focuses on minimizing risks, promoting safe working practices, and maintaining high standards of hygiene for guests, staff, and the environment.
Job Description
- Oversee all hygiene, sanitation, and environmental activities throughout the property.
- Conduct regular hygiene and sanitation audits in all areas including kitchens, restaurants, housekeeping, and public spaces.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, ISO 22000, or equivalent).
- Implement and maintain waste management and recycling programs to reduce environmental impact.
- Monitor and report on energy and water consumption, identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
- Conduct quality assurance audits to ensure adherence to brand and service standards.
- Monitor pest control operations and ensure effective preventive measures are in place.
- Lead incident investigations related to hygiene, safety, or environmental breaches and ensure corrective measures.
- Maintain records of all audits, inspections, and training programs.
- Liaise with external auditors, health officers, and environmental agencies.
- Develop and deliver training programs on hygiene, safety, and environmental awareness for all departments.
- Collaborate with F&B, Housekeeping, and Engineering to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
- Drive the hotel’s sustainability initiatives, such as reducing single-use plastics, implementing green cleaning, and promoting eco-awareness among staff and guests.
- Prepare monthly reports on hygiene performance, environmental metrics, and quality initiatives for management review.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, quality excellence, and environmental responsibility.
Qualification and Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in environmental health, Occupational Safety, Hospitality Management, Hygiene Management or a related field.
- Professional certification in Occupational Health & Safety OSHA, Fire Training, Fire warden, Hygiene Certificate is an advantage and any related certification
- Knowledge of local and international health, safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Ability to work across departments and influence staff behavior towards compliance.
