Job Summary
The General Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair tasks throughout the hotel to ensure all facilities, equipment, and systems are in good working condition. The role supports the Engineering Department in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for guests and staff. To support all technical areas by performing multi-skilled maintenance duties across plumbing, electrical, and mechanical works as assigned.
Job Description
- Carry out routine maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry systems.
- Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests and ensure issues are resolved efficiently.
- Assist in performing preventive maintenance as per the hotel’s maintenance schedule.
- Inspect and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, machinery, or systems.
- Support major maintenance projects or renovation works as directed by the Chief Engineer.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and ensure proper storage.
- Record and report all completed work and pending maintenance tasks in the logbook or system.
- Follow safety standards and hotel policies in all maintenance operations.
- Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruption during maintenance activities.
- Monitor energy usage and report irregularities or potential savings.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs across departments as directed.
- Assist specialized technicians in major repair works.
- Inspect rooms and facilities daily to identify maintenance needs.
- Respond to maintenance requests within 15 minutes of notification.
- Record and report all maintenance actions in daily logs.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks with ≥90% completion monthly.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and safety standards in the workshop.
- Support emergency response for power or water outages.
- Assist in furniture movement, fixture installation, and ad-hoc repairs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualification and Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, or Building Maintenance. VETA Certificate or equivalent technical qualification is added advantage
- Minimum 5 year of experience in a hotel maintenance team.
- Multi-skilled in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work.
- Safety-conscious and dependable.
- Sound knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures
- Familiarity with hotel engineering systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting).
