Job Summary

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and property at Catalonia Grand Zanzibar. This role conducts regular patrols, monitors access points, and ensures compliance with hotel safety and security procedures. The Security Officer responds promptly to incidents, emergencies, and guest concerns, supporting the overall protection and well‑being of everyone on the premises. This position requires vigilance, integrity, strong communication skills, and a customer‑oriented approach to security operations.

Job Description

1Patrols and Monitoring

  • Conduct regular internal and external patrols across all hotel areas.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, restricted zones, and high‑risk areas.
  • Ensure all safety equipment and emergency exits are functioning properly.

2. Incident Response

  • Respond promptly to emergencies, accidents, alarms, or suspicious activities.
  • Assist guests and employees in any safety‑related situation.
  • Provide first response support until specialized assistance arrives (medical, police, fire department).

3. Compliance and Safety Control

  • Enforce hotel security policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Operate and monitor CCTV systems, radios, and communication equipment.
  • Report any maintenance or safety hazards identified during patrols.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete incident reports, logbook entries, and daily activity reports.
  • Communicate relevant security findings to the Security Supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of key control, visitor logs, and access authorizations.

5. Guest Service & Interaction

  • Provide assistance and guidance to guests in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Support the hotel’s customer service standards while maintaining vigilance.
  • Handle guest concerns related to safety with confidentiality and discretion.
