Job Summary

A Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, ensuring that all utensils, dishes, equipment, and work areas are cleaned and ready for kitchen operations

Job Description

  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment following proper procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness of floors, walls, and surfaces in the back-of-house areas.
  • Handle waste disposal and maintain cleanliness of garbage areas.
  • Assist in deep cleaning tasks in kitchens and storage areas.
  • Ensure proper storage of clean equipment and maintain organized workstations.
  • Follow hygiene, safety, and sanitation guidelines (HACCP).
  • Operate dishwashing machines, monitor temperature and chemical levels.
  • Report any damages or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Support chefs by ensuring availability of clean tools during service.

Qualification and Requirements

  • Basic education - Form four or standard seven
  • Previous experience in stewarding is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of hygiene and safety standards.
  • Physically fit and able to lift or move heavy items when required.
